Frequently asked questions about family holidays in the Schladming-Dachstein region

Which excursion highlights are there in the region?

It doesn't matter whether you want to walk with your family through green high valleys or follow the numerous spring and water hikes - especially great adventures await the little ones in Schladming-Dachstein. In addition to the services for adults, the free Kids Summercard also includes around around specially designed for children and families.

Hopsiland Planai
The circular trail, suitable for pushchairs, is around 1.5 km long and starts at the mountain station of the Planai cable car. Swings, slides, climbing elements, a three-part marble run and a separate "water world" with a pond and newly built channels await along the route and thus on Hopsi's footsteps. Cooling down on hot summer days is guaranteed! One of Hopsi's favorite stations is the oversized wooden snow groomer. Right next door, the former Dachstein gondola invites you to slide, play and climb. On the mountain, Hopsi will show you his many fun play stations. And he knows the most beautiful and great ways to explore the Planai and its nature!

Märchenweg Rohrmoos
A circular route designed with great attention to detail for the whole family with numerous fairytale stations where a wide variety of play equipment awaits the little visitors. The beautiful meadow and forest path is well signposted and has only slight inclines and downhill sections, the path is suitable for pushchairs. Parking spaces are available at the starting point on Schwaigerweg and at the Hochwurzen summit lift, there are no toilets along the route itself. You can stop at the hotels along the way.

Nature and environmental adventure trail Ramsau am Dachstein
The Sattelberg in Ramsau am Dachstein is THE "children's mountain" par excellence. The first Austrian nature and environmental adventure trail is not only exciting and interesting for the kids, parents and grandparents will also be amazed. It lives up to its name and has even more to offer: the ramsaur dwarf farm (with display and play boards the size of small children) is Kali's play paradise for the youngest. It is located directly at the Sattelberghütte. In addition to the large forest playhouse and the “Little Ramsau Water World”, you will also discover three real children's and youth via ferratas on a hike along the Ramsau nature and environmental adventure trail.

Children's treasure hunt - Donnersbachwald
The children's treasure hunt for the Krispini spirit of the Riesneralm brings a lot of fun and exercise on the mountain. Starting from the middle station, the Rätselweg leads over the Krispenleitn up to the mountain station, where the treasure chest is located. Before the treasure chest can be opened, however, there are 9 stations along the way to solve a variety of puzzles. You can get the treasure map at the lift station in the valley!

Animal wood park Donnerbachwald
A very special kind of zoo. Oversized animals made from local materials bring fun, games and adventure. With a size of 3 to 4 meters, every animal inside is a small playground. In addition, by leafing through the animal books that are installed with each animal, children learn all sorts of things about foxes, deer, capercaillie & Co. The TierHOLZpark is located in the area of the Riesneralm mountain station.

Mountain GoKart Hochwurzen
The toboggan run on the Hochwurzen in winter is used as a mountain go-kart route in summer. The "Harley-like" fun sport device on 3 wheels is not only really fun, but is above all an exciting change when it comes to speeding down into the valley!

Rittisberg Coaster
Summer toboggan run down, into the roundabout ... here you whiz down quickly or comfortably in the orange one- or two-seater, because you can control the speed yourself. At the Rittisberg - Coaster, the sledges move silently down the mountain on stainless steel tubes. The special experience for the passenger is to determine the speed themselves. It then goes up with its own lift system - regardless of the weather, rain or shine.

Flyline Rittisberg - Ramsau am Dachstein
The new system is a kind of mixture between roller coaster and flying fox - a curved track that meanders through the forest. Suspended from a steel tube, you float almost noiselessly between the treetops of meter-high spruce trees through the forest. Whether in a cozy double with a child, or alone in fast turns. The new flight experience extends over 430 meters and is a safe experience for the whole family.

Junior trails on the Reiteralm
Young mountain bike fans are prepared for the rest of the Reiteralm Trails in a playful way. A conveyor belt takes you to the start comfortably and nothing stands in the way of many repetitions. The park is located directly in front of the Reiteralm hut, near the Preunegg Jet mountain station and offers rental of balance bikes, junior bikes and bobby cars as well as the necessary protective equipment. Advanced skiers and adults can whiz down into the valley on the new 15 kilometers of single trails (two easy and two moderately difficult trails).

Slalom Kart - Ramsau am Dachstein
Formula 1 of the mountains is the name of a very special holiday adventure in Ramsau Vorberg. With a drag lift, which takes skiers up in winter, you get to the start and speed down the green piste. There is a choice of two racetracks with different levels of difficulty. An easy course for children and beginners as well as a fast course with timing for professionals.

Disc Golf Course - Hauser Kaibling
From the fun family and group fun to the exciting pro’s match. Test your accuracy on the large or small course on the mountain. The rule is: the fewer throws, the better! A practice basket at the 8-seater gondola valley station invites you to try it out. You can get the equipment from the Hauser Kaibling sports shop at the 8-seater gondola valley station.
