Summer in Schladming
A multifaceted holiday experience in the heart of Austria
Here we simply have more to offer
Active holidays in the heart of Austria
- A paradise for people seeking peace and quiet and those looking for an active holiday. The mountain summer between the Dachstein and the Schladminger Tauern has so much to offer - relaxation and enjoyment is almost impossible to avoid!
- From their lofty heights, on the Dachstein around 2,700 metres above sea level, the breath-taking peaks appear so close you could touch them.
- Sport land: set your own pace and enjoy your personal summer on 1000 kilometres of hiking trails, 930 km of cycle and mountain bike routes, 45 running and Nordic walking routes, several golf courses and 14 via ferratas as well as countless outdoor sports activities such as rafting, canyoning, archery, summer skiing and paragliding!
- Water - Lakes - Springs: over 300 mountain lakes, 100 large and small waterfalls, the high alpine water landscapes, natural biotopes with their unique flora and fauna, raised bogs and natural "refrigerators", canyons made of pure marble, healing springs and powerful places make this a water landscape of manifest pleasure, recreation and adventure.
- Lush alpine valleys, magnificent mountain peaks, clear streams and clean air...
Rafting, canyoning and kayaking
Active water experiences
Rafting
Paddle along the Enns or Salza river in a rubber dinghy and see the landscape from a completely different perspective - this is rafting, a mini adventure for groups or families (Attention: age restrictions apply to children!). Keinprecht Hotels will make the necessary enquiries if you are interested.
Canyoning
This activity involves participants hiking through streams, abseiling in small to mediumsized waterfalls, sliding through water ravines and jumping in rock pools. Canyoning requires surefootedness as well as a little strength and endurance. But be careful: only go on tours under the guidance of qualified guides. They will also provide the necessary equipment.
Kayaking
A local provider organises courses for beginner, advanced and experienced kayakers. People who want to have a taster of this sport can do so at the Aich Lake Resort (between Schladming and Gröbming). Children with a Sommercard can try it out once a week free of charge.
Climbing & via ferrata
Extreme mountain experience
The quickest and safest vertical kick is our via ferrata on the Dachstein "from easy to very difficult"! You will need: good mental and physical fitness and the right equipment. Our alpine schools ensure maximum safety.
Ramsau am Dachstein has a reputation as a climbing El dorado for miles around. No wonder, given the long tradition of alpine climbing and the 18 via ferratas
Adventure parks
Climbing fun for everyone
The regional adventure parks and climbing parks - run by qualified guides - are the first steps towards alpine sports. It’s all about gaining surefootedness and getting used to heights: clambering between trees and treetops, climbing jungle gyms and light rock walls, hovering with the Flying Fox, securing ropes and much more. All this means getting to take part in the "higher" challenges. The adventure parks also have special facilities for children. Here, too, safety is the top priority.
Running and Nordic walking
Get fit and healthy on your holiday
The entrance to the regional running and Nordic walking network begins, practically on the front doorstep of the Keinprecht hotels. A regional speciality is the Nordic walking circuit in Pichl (Schladming). It comprises six signposted routes over a total distance of over 50 km. The sunny Ramsau am Dachstein plateau is also a place of interest for fans of this sport, as it has the most extensive running and Nordic walking network in the region, with eight marked trails ranging from one to 42 km and at an altitude of 1000 to 1700 m.

Versatile summer holidays
Summer activities in the region around Schladming are practically limitless. Playing tennis, Nordic walking, cultural daytrips - you’ll find all this and much more with us. With the Schladming Dachstein Sommercard you have lots of discounts and free admissions!
How about exploring the region in a scenic flight from above? The "Club Sportunion Niederöblarn" (30 km from Schladming, 15 km from Gröbming) organises sightseeing flights with propeller aircraft and gliders. The club also offers beginners and advanced courses for people who are interested.
Families and children especially love the many riding opportunities in the region: short or full day rides, pony riding, dressage and jumping for beginners and advanced riders - we have everything here.
We are happy to give you information about the varied active programme in the region. Send us a non-binding.
